The Legal Services Board has reacted to the announcements on the set up process for the Office for Legal Complaints.

Chair of the Legal Services Board David Edmonds said:

“Making sure users of legal services have access to simple, fast and effective dispute resolution is one of the Legal Services Board’s most important objectives. We welcome the announcements made today, which demonstrate that the OLC is making strong progress in developing a new way of handling complaints and that they will be ready to play a part in the new regulatory framework from autumn 2010.

Both lawyers and consumers can be confident that under Elizabeth and Adam’s leadership, the OLC and the Legal Ombudsman scheme, will meet their legitimate expectations.

The LSB and the Approved Regulators also have their part to play in improving complaint resolution and work is underway to make sure that the regulation of front-line complaint management – that done by lawyers themselves – delivers for consumers, not least to ensure smooth liaison with the Legal Ombudsman”
