05 January 2010 - LSB announces appointees at conclusion of legal services tender

The LSB today announces the appointment of a number of advisors as the successful applicants in its recent Legal Services support tender.

The Legal Services tender, designed to appeal to a wide range of providers, was advertised in sector press and widely communicated to a range of practitioners and organisations. 16 responses were received from a range of advisors nationally.

The selection criteria were based and scored on experience in relevant legal areas concerned with discharging the functions of the LSB as the oversight regulator in the sector; cost, innovation and efficiency in the use and offering of support services. Responses were also monitored for diversity and effective communication.

The results of this process are that the panel decision comprises:

General Advisors:
• Thirty Nine Essex Street;
• Lovells – main contacts: public law partner Paul Dacam and associate Charles Brasted.

Specialist Advisors:
• Philip Havers QC of 1 Crown Office Row;
• Helga Breen of Lawrence Graham;
• Stephanie Grundy;
• Louise Jones of Temple Garden Chambers;
• Trading Terms Ltd – main contact: Joanna Tall

Bruce Macmillan, General Counsel of the Legal Services Board said:

‘We are pleased to announce this panel, which brings together some very authoritative figures and teams from across the legal landscape. The services they provide, both as individuals and as a panel, will provide valuable support to the lawyers working within the LSB. These appointments are a key step in completing the process of our legal advisory capacity as the new regulatory regime enters its first months’.
