LSB Business Plan 2011/12 published today

The LSB is today publishing its Business Plan for 2011/12. This follows a consultation on the draft work-plan published in December 2010.

The Plan describes the Board’s work for 2011/12. It sees the Board maintain its focus on its three early priorities including:
- independence - through the second round of governance certifications of the approved regulators;
- competition - with the emergence of Alternative Business Structures; and
- complaints-handling – with work continuing to ensure complaints-handling in legal services is fit for purpose.

The Plan also lays the groundwork for the next phase of the Board’s work. Priorities include ensuring that the workforce is fit-for-purpose, that quality is recognised and that consumers have more choice in the market. Part of this work will include a re-examination of the scope of reserved activity, with a focus on establishing a rationale for regulation based on consumer protection.

Also published today is the Board’s evaluation framework against which both the organisational impact of the LSB and that of the wider reforms will be assessed.
