Legal Services Board reappointments

03 June 2011

The original members of the LSB (five lay members and four non-lay members) were appointed in September 2008 for three years. Following the reappointment of the Chairman, David Edmonds until April 2014, the LSB announced today that from September, following the series of reappointments set out below, the composition of the Board will be reduced to seven non-executive members.

David Edmonds said: "The Board of the LSB has worked hard and effectively to set up the organisation and to establish a range of regulatory policies. After nearly three years experience, I believe that we can operate at the same high level with a smaller Board. We also need to have future appointments phased so that there is continuity and renewal, while maintaining a lay majority. One lay Board Member (Terry Connor) has decided not to seek a second term, and there is one non-lay vacancy, which will not be filled. The Board expresses its thanks to Terry Connor for his very significant contribution to our work over the set-up period, which has included chairing the Remuneration and Nomination Committee.

On behalf of the Lord Chancellor, and after consultation with the Lord Chief Justice, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Jonathan Djanogly MP has approved the following schedule of appointments:
    • Stephen Green (lay) – re-appointed to 31 March 2015
    • Bill Moyes (lay) – re-appointed to 31 March 2015
    • Edward Nally (non-lay) – appointed to 31 March 2015
    • Barbara Saunders OBE (lay) – re-appointed to 31 March 2014
    • Andrew Whittaker (non-lay)- re-appointed to 31 March 2014
    • Nicole Smith (lay) – re-appointed to 31 March 2013
    • David Wolfe (non-lay) – re-appointed to 31 March 2013

The Chief Executive, Chris Kenny, is also a member of the Board.
