Literature reviews concerning quality in legal services

10 November 2011

The Legal Services Board (LSB) is today publishing two literature reviews designed to inform policy development on measures aiming to ensure quality in legal services.

As part of this, one of the reviews, Quality in legal services: a literature review focuses on the role of the professional regulators in driving the quality of legal services, while examining the range of regulatory interventions available to them to intervene in the public interest and to ensure consumer protection.

The second review, Quality in other regulated professions looks more widely at the experience of professional regulators across other disciplines, for example in the health and financial services sectors.

The literature reviews were produced to inform discussions on quality in legal services, and are not definitive nor exhaustive, rather illustrative of regulatory interventions for quality assurance.
