LSB publishes assessment of approved regulators diversity action plans

31 May 2012

The Legal Services Board today published its assessments of the approved regulators plans for collection and transparency of diversity data. These were submitted in response to the LSB’s guidance issued in July 2011.

LSB Chief Executive Chris Kenny said:

“Responding to the LSB’s guidance, the approved regulators have shown progress in developing their approach to diversity data collection. Some are well underway with implementation of their plans and we look forward to seeing more data as it becomes available later this year.

Transparency can act as a powerful incentive on employers to consider the impact of their recruitment decisions on retention and progression and we therefore welcome the decisions of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Bar Standards Board and the Council for Licensed Conveyancers to require entity level publication.

Our assessment of the plans underlines the importance of transparency in achieving our common goal of a diverse and effective legal profession and we will continue to challenge and work with the Approved Regulators to ensure the main benefits are realised.

The LSB will conduct a more thorough review in 2013, including an assessment of the data available.”
